Terry Hill

Terry Rick Hill passed away unexpectedly on June 27, 2018 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving children. He was born on March 02, 1947 in Forsyth County to Frances Jordan Hill and C.W. Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Butch Hill, and infant granddaughter Allie Nicole Jessup.

Surviving are his three children
Terry Len Hill, Regina Payne, and Kerri Jessup (Grant). His five grandchildren Terry Austin Hill, Tyler Goad, Lindsay Craddock, Hailey Jessup and Alex Jessup. His two sisters Deborah Hill and Linda J. Hill, a brother Gary Hill. A nephew Grayson Hill. Terry is also survived by many dear cousins and aunt.

Terry was dedicated to his life-long career as a mechanical designer, engineer, machinist, welder, fabricator, and technical instructor. He polished his skills over the years at different companies such as Stroh's Brewery, Grainger, and Royal Cake. He owned Hill's Welding and Fabrication for over 15 years doing several industrial projects around the Piedmont. Terry landed his dream job at Forsyth Technical Community College instructing Welding and Fabrication to some very creative and dedicated students.

Terry received honors and awards over his life. He was recognized by The American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, and was a certified Nantahala Outdoor Center raft instructor.

He was an avid photographer being a member of Piedmont Photography Club for many years. He continued his eye for photography over the years demonstrating his artistic abilities along with incredible skill. He often explained to his grandchildren the patience of taking the right picture by saying "Kids wait for the right moment, light, subject, and shadow OR have a really long lens and rapid shutter speed and one of those pictures will be great!"

Terry found a love of the river and became a Master Canoes-man learning to do tricks in the high class rapids and even learning to completely roll over a canoe ON PURPOSE! He was a long time member of Triad River Runners and served as their President over those years. Terry shared the love of the river with his children Kerri, Regina, Terry Len, and some really awesome river buddies.

Terry's desire for adventure did not stop with the camera lens or river. He continued to push the envelope with his need to only keep two wheels on the ground. Fast motorcycles and scenic, curvy roads called his name many times. He enjoyed this hobby and passion with his son , Terry Len and many amazing friends.

Terry also enjoyed the outdoors in so many different ways. He spent some of his time over the years hiking, camping, mountain biking, and fly-fishing. He met and made long time friends in each of these incredible outdoor hobbies. Terry was always very helpful in explaining to his children how to go about these great adventures in the most positive and successful way. However, he was always eager to learn from the knowledgeable people he would meet along these adventurous paths.

Terry enjoyed delicious food and loved cooking a great meal for his family and many of his close friends. He did not disappoint with any meal prepared from his kitchen, the river, or the campground. We will think fondly of him each time we eat shrimp, enjoy a sharp cheddar cheese or have a scrumptious sweet treat.

Terry's family welcomes you to his visitation, a tribute to his wonderful, adventurous, meaningful, brilliant, talented, full life. Please come and reminisce about the good times you had with Terry, meet new people and see old friends. We all know Terry did not like the spotlight and only stood still for a bit, but he sure enjoyed being with family and friends talking about great times and hanging out for a little while.
