Mr. Thad Johnson Bingham, 92, passed away at his home on Thursday, August 30, 2018. He was born on October 27, 1925 to Jessie Johnson Bingham and Fred Bingham in Randolph County. Thad was a lifelong member of Clemmons United Methodist Church and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War. He owned and operated Bingham Lumber for many years. He was a successful businessman who gave back to the community in a variety of meaningful ways. Thad enjoyed playing golf and taking trips to Las Vegas with friends. Most of all, he treasured time spent with family. They enjoyed many happy times together at the beach, the lake, and exploring far away destinations. Thad will be remembered as a pillar of the community with a giving spirit. He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Jaymee Reavis and J.V. Snow. Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, Mary Doby Bingham; daughters, Donna Merriman (Billy), and Denise Bingham; grandchildren, Thad Merriman (Elizabeth), Tyler Merriman, Travis Merriman (Ally), Tucker Merriman (Sydnie Covington), and Jessie Snow; great grandchildren, Kyree Snow and Hunter Merriman; sister, Peggy Sparks (Jack); and brother, Max Bingham (Ruth). A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Clemmons United Methodist Church with Rev. Paula Northrup officiating. Interment will follow at Westlawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
