Thad Reavis

Mr. Thad R. Reavis, 75, passed away on January 1, 2019 in Newnan, GA while he and his wife, Sandy were staying with their daughter, Wendy Oglesby and family. He was born in Forsyth County to the late Joel and Phosa Reavis on May 8, 1943.  He graduated from Southwest High School in 1961 and after graduation he entered the U.S. Navy. Mr. Reavis worked for R.J Reynolds Archer Aluminum until he became a Licensed Contractor. He was a gifted, artistic, and creative builder which can be seen through the many homes he designed and built for people. He loved spending time with his family, being outdoors, nature, and mountains. Mr. Reavis had a very kind and gentle spirit and was a giving person that never judged anyone. He was always looking for the good in people and taught his family to do the same. Preceding him in death were three brothers, Paul Reavis, Owen Reavis, and Joe Reavis and a granddaughter Gracen Oglesby. Surviving are his wife, Sandy Reavis; two daughters, Christine Reavis and Dee Ann Reavis (Bart); three step-children, Wendy Oglesby (Rob), Kirk Mayes (Leigh), and Kent Mayes (Kristy); seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; also surviving are two brothers, Dennis Reavis (Patty) and Ronnie Reavis, one sister Nancy Dumont (Jack) and his former wife, Mary Reavis; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Sharon United Methodist Church in Lewisville, NC with Rev. Greg Freeman and Rob Oglesby officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the commons area of the church. In lieu flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice or to just show an act of kindness to someone.
