Mr. Thomas Ward Adams, 84, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, September 28, 2009 at his home. He was born May 27, 1925 in Wilkes County to Jess Franklin and Alice Richardson Adams. Mr. Adams was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Navy aboard LST-530. He was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church and retired from Salem Electric Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Edith Pruitt Adams, a son, Clay Adams, five brothers and four sisters. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Rising Adams; two daughters, Carroll Adams and Kathy Hutcherson and husband, David; a son, Craig Adams and wife, Barbie; a daughter-in-law, Teressa Adams; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Ingram and Fay Johnson; two sisters-in-law, Betty and Becky of Florida; and a number of nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Ardmore Baptist Church with Rev. Christa Warise and Rev Ray Benefild officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
