Thomas Denver “Chunk” Everhart, Jr., 67, passed away at his home on December 12, 2018. Chunk was born on January 29, 1951 to Faye Mabel Robinson Everhart and Thomas Denver Everhart, Sr. He proudly served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Germany, during the Vietnam War. Following his military service he was employed as a Mechanical Specialist by RJR where he worked until retirement. An avid outdoorsman, Chunk enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and horseback riding. He had a special fondness for his horse, “Giddy-up.” He was a fan of Wake Forest sports; and also enjoyed playing and coaching softball in his spare time. More than anything, he loved his family and his church family. “Denny” loved his Mama. His Mama was the one person who always believed that the Lord would lead him back on the right path and she was right. He believed that the sun rose and set on his grandchildren. He loved them beyond measure and he gave them credit for leading him to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. The worn pages of his Bible attest to his love for God’s word. “Chunk” was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Denver Everhart, Sr.; and sister, Donna Everhart. Surviving are his daughter, Christy Pinckney (Jeff); step-daughter, Devon Johnson; grandchildren, Jordin and Levi Pinckney; brothers, Dale Everhart and Daryl Everhart (Shannon); sister, Desca Everhart; nieces, Shelley Lail and Victoria Everhart; nephews, Houston Stafford and Landon Everhart; and former wife, Carol, who always remained a friend and confidant. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Pastor Jeff Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
