Thomas Evans Hearn (Tom) April 7th 1958 to January 29th 2023

Thomas Evans Hearn (Tom) 64, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away unexpectedly of natural causes January 29th 2023.

Tom was born on April 7, 1958 to Sam Hylton Hearn and Frances Carr Hearn Mabry in Greensboro North Carolina. His family settled in Albemarle, NC. After Tom graduated from Albemarle High School in 1976, He went on to study at Wingate College, then transferred to UNC Chapel Hill. After a few years break he went on to graduate with a Degree in English Language and Literature from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Tom went on to marry Donna Rough in 1995 and became the proud parents to 2 sons Patrick Robert(23) and Henry Dallas(20.)

Most of you will remember him as a jovial bar owner at Ziggy's back in the day when it was but a little white shack with sand, picnic and foosball tables, where, in his presence he made everyone feel welcome. Others know him as a sage breakfast cook at Rose and Thistle and the guy at Video Village who knew more about movies than anyone. He then went on to excel in a career as an Associate in Digital Product Management for American Express where he has been for about 20 years.

If you knew him, you knew his love for Film, Theatre, Music and Literature and had thirst for lifelong learning to inspire us all. His closest know him as the guy who won more Lepkes than anyone...if you know, you know.

Tom was, indeed, that learned, sweet and funny guy with a wry sense of humor, that was hard not to love and trust. But to his family, Donna, Patrick and Henry, Tom was the best, most patient, inquisitive, silly and loving father a child could have. To Donna, although separated, there was undying respect, kindness and love, that great love. They were fabulous co-parents that did enjoy being the friends they always were. The proof in the pudding that was the children he loved more than life. His pride in and love for his sons was immeasurable.

Tom is survived by his brother Samuel Hearn, wife Donna, and his beloved sons Patrick Robert Hearn and Henry Dallas Hearn.

Please join us to celebrate his life with one another and share with his boys a story honoring the man that you knew. A memorial will be held at Hayworth Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston Salem, NC on Sunday, February 5th, with a visitation at 1pm and Memorial at 2pm.

Our boys and I will miss the void of his touch more than we can express.
