Thomas "Jerry" Gerald Tucker

Thomas “Jerry” Gerald Tucker, 79, of Colfax, NC, went home to be with the lord on Wednesday May 8, 2024. Jerry was born on July 5, 1944, to Tommy and Doris Tucker. Jerry was a lifelong resident of the Colfax community and attended Colfax School.

Jerry owned and operated Jerry’s Grading and Hauling and Marshall Smith Farm Inc. for over 35 years. He was well known in the grading and hauling industry and many people depended on his expertise. Jerry was never afraid of hard work and even after retiring continued to work every day helping Nate, Tanya and Matt run their businesses. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman and spent a lot of time farming, hunting, and fishing; hunting, and fishing carried him all over the world. He also enjoyed traveling with and spending time with his wife, spending time with Remi, working on the farm, working on equipment with Nate and Matt alongside and hanging out at the shop with all his buddies, especially on Sundays for the Nascar race and a good game of pool.

Jerry is preceded in death by his mother and father, Tommy, and Doris Tucker, along with a host of aunts and uncles and special friend, Ronald Beasley.

Jerry is survived by his soulmate, the most perfect wife and light of his life for the last 38 years, Susie May Tucker. Jerry is also survived by one daughter, Cheryl Tucker Tedder (Todd), three grandchildren, Tanya Adkins (Nate), Colby Jones, and Jaime Wall (Daniel Wilson), four great-grandchildren, Carson Wall, Remi Adkins, Blakely Jones, and Kinsley Wilson, stepdaughter, Angela Staley, four step-grandchildren, Heather Ennis (Matt), Aaron Staley, Taylor and Kailey Tedder, sister, JoAnn Tucker Lee, nephew David Gray and special friends; Matt Combs, Nate Adkins, Lee Tate, Brendle Morphies, Dennis Whitacker, Johnny Watson, Taylor Spivey, Charlie Alston, Donnie Parrish, Steve Lee, Tony Simaan, Mark Nales, Jimbo Trent, Michael Hall  and Grayson Nance.

Visitation will be held at Hayworth Miller, Kernersville Chapel, on Sunday May 12, 2024, from 5pm-8pm, and all other times at the home of his granddaughter, Tanya, on the farm. A graveside service will be held at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church (Colfax) on Monday, May 13, 2024, at 11am with Rev. Francis Smith officiating.

The family would like to extend their greatest gratitude to everyone who supported, stopped by to visit, and/or offered a helping hand during his battle with cancer.

The family has requested casual dress for both services.

“Don’t cry for me, for I am on the outskirts of heaven, where there’s dirt roads for miles, hay in the fields, fish in the pond, blue skies and green grass forever.”
