Thomas Edward “Tom” Lawson, 86, passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Tom was born on May 5, 1939, in Forsyth County the son of the late George and Edna Lawson. He was a restaurant man all of his life, ending up at the “Whistle Stop” in Thomasville. Tom was also known as the pie man, making and delivering pies and cakes. He was a lifetime member of Davidson County Beekeepers Association. He enjoyed working with the bees and honey. Tom was a Wake Forest Fan, enjoyed playing the spoons, dancing and loved his dog, Daisy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Jimmy and Jerry Lawson and a sister, Sallie L. Crouse. Tom is survived by his children, Debbie Malloy, Kathy Applebee, Danta Mickey, and Tommy Lawson, Jr., seven grandchildren, Brittany Granger, Kelsey Malley, Tanner Bowles, Matthew Peacock, Brooke Nieves, Marleana Mickey, and Taylor Lawson, nine great-grandchildren, one brother, Steve Lawson, three sisters, Bonnie Newman (Ben), Dot Lawson and Judy Lawson; a brother-in-law, Carl Crouse, a friend, Wanda Manring and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Hickory Ridge United Methodist Church where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 prior to the service at the church.
