Mr. Thomas Henry Mays, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, August 22, 2017. He was born July 19, 1936 in Surry County to the late William Henry Mays and Parlie Pauline Jackson Mays. Mr. Mays was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, Thomas was a faithful servant of the Lord, he loved spending time with his family, was a carpenter for over 50 years, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. In addition to his parents, Mr. Mays was preceded in death by one daughter, Sharon Mays Lawson and two sisters, Mary Lee Key and Willie Mae Shaw. He is survived by his loving wife, Dolly Quesenberry Mays; two children, Jimmy Mays (Cindy) and Sandy Mays; four step-children: Judy Edwards (Bob), Tony Lawson (Elaine), Terry Lawson (Christy), and Sherri Conrad; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; three sisters: Ozell Key, Mozelle Brown, and Martha Jackson (John Lee); and one brother, James Mays (Ruth). A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 26, at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel with Pastor Jerry Perdue, Dr. Terry Lawson, and Rev. Bob Edwards officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cemetery Fund at Cedar Hill Primitive Baptist Church, 339 Pilot Power Dam Road, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
