Thomas O'Donnell Jr.

Mr. Thomas F. O'Donnell Jr., devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, joined his wife, Joanne, in Heaven on September 3, 2018. Tom was born September 10, 1928 in Flushing NY to Thomas and Catherine O'Donnell. He attended Xavier High School and graduated from Iona College. Tom served in the United States Marine Corps and was a very successful businessman until his retirement. Tom and Joanne retired to North Carolina to be near their children and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joanne; his parents and a sister, Kathleen Checola. Surviving is a son, Thomas O'Donnell III (Mary) of Apex; three daughters, Nancy McKay (Jim) of Advance, Julianne Hanes (Alan) also of Advance and Kathy Mishue (Mike) of Salisbury; seven grandchildren, Sara (Jason), Brenden (Casey), Jake (Mallorie), Meredith, Kerry, Keith and Nicolas; two great grandchildren, Harper and Sawyer and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral mass will be conducted 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow in the church columbarium. The family will receive friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, the O'Donnell family requests that gifts may be made in memory of Thomas F.
