Thomas ""Tom"" Elwood Tate, 79, of Winston-Salem was peacefully called home on April 25, 2017, after a brief illness resulting in hospitalization. He was born in Forsyth County on December 29, 1937, to Thomas and Cora Lee Tate. He was a member of Knollwood Baptist Church. He was a dedicated employee of R.J.R. Tobacco Archer Plant with 34 years of loyal service. He had a loving heart to serve others, and was truly one of a kind. A family man, he loved his family more than anything, and was an excellent role model. Surviving are his loving wife of 37 years, Alice Tate; two sons, Joshua Tate (wife Amanda), and Dannie ""Lee"" Fishel, Jr.; two grandchildren, Izzabell and Payten; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 28, 2017, at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Lucrecia Norman officiation. Entombment will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
