Thomas Gibson

Mr. Thomas Walter Gibson, 60, of King, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019. He was born in Guilford County on April 5, 1959, to Joe Thomas Gibson and Nancy Elizabeth Moran Gibson. Father, son, uncle, cousin, brother, husband, mentor, just a few ways he is remembered and loved. First and foremost, he loved his children and was an excellent father. He was a hard worker and worked with Colors on Parade as a Franchise owner for the majority of his career.  He moved to Tennessee and Atlanta before returning home to North Carolina in July of 2000. He had a smile that would light up the room and was the life of the party. It has been stated that he was "King of the Gibson’s and the heart of the crew." He made people laugh, think, scream, learn and so much more. A very kind and gentle soul. He was animal lover, especially his beloved dog Dozer. He enjoyed the Outer Banks, especially Portsmouth Island where he enjoyed many vacations with his family and friends surf fishing and deep sea fishing. He loved going down the Dan River tubing and listening to music, of all kinds. He will be dearly missed.

Preceding him in death are his parents and a sister, Elizabeth Shanahan. Surviving are three sons: Richard Thomas Gibson and wife Amanda, Logan Chase Gibson and fiancé Kelly Robinson, and Corey Landon Gibson; a brother, Tim Gibson of Charlotte; a sister, Jean Gibson of Russellville, KY; his wife of 29 years, Melissa; and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed.

A memorial service will be conducted in his honor 4:00 PM Saturday, August 17, 2019, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, officiated by Mr. Don Davis. The family will receive friends 2:45 PM – 3:45 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
