Thurman Lee Wester

KERNERSVILLE -- Mr. Thurman Lee Wester, 81, went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at Beacon Place Hospice Home. Thurman was born November 4, 1932 to the late Earl Wester and Viola Brock. He was a man of Godly character with a steadfast faith. He was a generous, caring person who touched many lives. Thurman was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church where he faithfully served as a Sunday School Superintendent for many years and a church deacon. Mr. Wester retired from Sears Catalog Distribution Center in Greensboro with 52 years of service. In addition to his parents, Thurman was preceded in death by his wife, Rheta Stephens Wester and his brother, Willard Wester. Surviving are his daughters, Patti Wilson (Dean) of Greensboro and Mary Wester of Kernersville; two sisters, Peggy Buchholz of Wisconsin and Sue Goodrich (Ken) of Greensboro; a half-brother, Bobby Brock of Eastover, NC and a half-sister, Debbie Whitaker of Mesquite, Nevada. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, December 18 , 2013 at Union Grove Baptist Church in Oak Ridge. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship building, The Arbor. Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting the family.
