Timothy Douglas Thomas, who went by Doug, passed away Tuesday June 12, 2018 at the Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC. He was born to parents Annie Ruth Smith Thomas and the late David Douglas Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Craven Thomas, his daughter, Hailey Nicole Thomas and his son, Elijah Douglas Thomas, his sister, Cynthia Ann Thomas, his mother Annie Ruth Smith Thomas, and 2 step sons, Justin and Daniel Childress. Doug graduated from South Stokes High School. He was involved in the band and played basketball and baseball. He received a BS in Business Administration from Wake Forest University where he played the trombone in the marching band. After graduation he lived in Greensboro working at U Filler Up and Vanguard Cellular where he obtained his CPA certification. He was an active member of the Jaycees and rode in the Tour to Tanglewood every year for charity. Doug moved back to King and worked for Nomus Interiors for 10 years before being employed by Aon for 17 years. He was an active member at King Moravian Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and the Pipe Organ Committee. He also served on the King YMCA board that helped build the new Stokes County YMCA. He spent his leisure time working on his family farm with livestock, the vineyard, and mowing hay. He also enjoyed running and cycling. Doug Thomas was not only an outstanding member of his church and community he was an outstanding person. Lucky to all who called him friend. A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23, at King Moravian Church with the Rev. Doug Rights officiating.
