Tony Chipman

Mr. Tony Lee Chipman, 80, entered his heavenly home Saturday, September 08, 2018. He was born February 12, 1938 in Surry County to the late Opal Sparks Chipman and Charlie Burt Chipman. Mr. Chipman proudly served his country in the United States Army and later retired from R. J. Reynolds. He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in King, where he was in the Discovery Bible Class and sang in the choir. He loved his church and church family. Mr. Chipman was an avid Duke fan. He enjoyed bass fishing and gardening. He was a devoted husband and a loyal friend. Mr. Chipman is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carol H. Chipman; son, Craig Warren Chipman; canine companions, Coco and Sugar; and special friends, Jim and Sherry Duncan. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, at Calvary Baptist Church in King with Pastor Kevin Broyhill officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown with military rites provided by American Legion Post 290 of King. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 noon to 12:45 p.m. prior to the service.
