Tracy Hutchens Harmon

East Bend
Mrs. Tracy Hutchens Harmon, 51, entered into the presence of Christ her Savior on January 26, 2016. She came to know Jesus at the age of 12 and was a member of Northwoods Baptist Church for over 40 years. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church for the last six years, and came to call it her home. There, she participated in the Puppet Ministry as well as the Children's Ministry as a teacher in Vacation Bible School and Mission Friends. In addition, she was Director of the Women's Missionary Union. She greatly enjoyed writing and directing Christmas plays at both Northwoods and Enon; as Christmas was her favorite time of year. She also volunteered weekly as a Bible teacher at Solus Christus, a Christian safe-house for women in addiction, and considered this to be one of the most significant ministries of her life. Tracy was Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Quality Oil Company in Winston-Salem, where she worked for 29 years. She truly loved her work, and continued to offer and provide her talents and services there even in her final days. Tracy was a happy and hopeful person, filled to the end with the joy of Christ. She loved her husband and children more than life, and lived every day to serve God through serving others. Her relationship with, and love, for Jesus Christ was her highest calling and greatest treasure. ""God is so good,"" was her message to the world. Tracy was preceded in death by her father, Billy Ray Hutchens. She is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Todd Harmon; her children, Katie and Clark Harmon; her mother, Cleo Hutchens; her sister, Sandra Hutchens (Jamie Laux); her niece, Amanda Ball; her mother-in-law, Kathryn Harmon; many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws; and countless other true and cherished friends. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 29 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Lewisville, NC. The funeral will be held at Enon Baptist Church in East Bend on Saturday, January 30 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Mark Elmore and Pastor Frank Shumate officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Cancer Services, Inc., 3175 Maplewood Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27103, or Enon Baptist Church, 6321 Old Highway 421, East Bend, NC 27018. The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Tracy's healthcare providers: Dr. Mark Lyerly of Neurosurgical Solutions; Dr. Eugene Paschold, Dr. Volker Stieber, Paula Norman, and April Chrissman of Novant Health; Dr. Katherine Peters of the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke; Dr. Suyash Mohan, Lisa Desiderio, and Katelyn Reilly of the University of Pennsylvania Health System; and to her most generous employer, Quality Oil Company.
