WALKERTOWN- Treva M. Whicker, 89 was a loving mother and a caring person for the needy, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 16, 2012. She was born December 19, 1922 in Forsyth Co. the daughter of the late Lester Vernon and Carrie Branson Whicker. Treva was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and Ladies Prayer Room as long as her health permitted. She graduated from Walkertown High School and Southern College of Naturepathy Medicine in Arkansas where she was voted ""Most Inspirational Doctor"" in the class. She retired from AT&T after 31 years of service and was a member of ECA of Forsyth County. She also crocheted many blankets for the Neonatal Nursery at Forsyth Hospital. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Allen C. Whicker of Winston-Salem and W. Vernon Whicker of Charleston, WV. Surviving are a son Denis W. Whicker and wife, Linda of Walkertown; two nieces, Bonnie Julia and husband, Frank of Gaithersburg, MD and Luann Hosch of Winston-Salem; extended family include church family and two special cousins, Barbara Taylor and Burton Whicker. A Funeral Service will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, August 19, 2012 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Roberson, Rev. Frank Shumate, Rev. Brian Taylor and Rev. Ronnie Perkins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel. A private service will be held Monday, August 20, 2012 at Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel in Walkertown.
