Troy Dunna Gant, 72, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025. He was born in Surry County, NC, on July 18, 1952, to the late Troy James and Mildred Chandler Gant. Dunna graduated from North Surry High School and Surry Community College.
He worked for 46 years in the Steel Industry. First at Brenner Steel, then Contract Steel, and retired as VP of Project Management at Universal Steel.
Dunna was president of North Forsyth Little League for 9 years and coached multiple teams over the years. He could always be found on any baseball field where his son was playing or any venue where his daughter was cheering or singing. When his grandsons became of age, he was proud to assume the role of Papa on the sidelines cheering them on whether it was baseball, basketball, volleyball or tennis.
Above all his Faith in God and love for his family and friends was his greatest joy. Dunna was a member of the Winston Salem First Pentecostal Holiness Church. He served in various capacities, deacon, music department and sang in the adult choir.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gary Gant.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 50 years, Donna Ward Gant; daughter, Anna Byrd (Brad); son, Seth Gant; the loves and joys of his life, his grandsons, Lucas and Kipton Byrd; and his sister-in-law, Tammy Gant. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Friday, May 23, 2025 at Winston-Salem First Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. Tres Ward, Rev. Tim Wolfe and Rev. Tommy Fuquay officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or to the Shriner's Hospital for Children.
