Troy James Smith, Jr.

Troy James Smith, Jr., 74, of Kernersville, NC passed away on Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. He was born to the late Troy James Smith, Sr. and Sarah Weaver Smith on September 13, 1951, in Guilford County.

Troy graduated from Western Guilford High School. He went on to work at the Friendly Road Inn Fish House for 35 years as a head cook. Troy spent his daytime career working at Consolidated Pipe for 33 years up until his death.

Troy was a hardworking and family-oriented man. He loved spending time with his family. Troy will be remembered for being a caring and sweet soul who will be truly missed.

In addition to his parents, Troy is preceded in death by his two brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Nancy “Libby” Smith; children, Brian Smith (Kristin), Lori Smith (George), and Kyle Smith (Melissa); grandchildren, Troy Smith, Aidan Smith, Natalie Smith, Waylan Smith, Owen Smith, and Avery Mette; sisters, Lucy Hyde (Jay), and Susan Harder.

A visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
