Later, he retired from Roadway Express as a Mechanic after many years of loyal service. Among his many hobbies, he was a musician and private pilot. Children and grandchildren fondly remember plane rides over fields and peanut patches accompanied by barrel rolls in his PT-19 War Trainer. In addition to aircrafts, he enjoyed trips to the beach, fishing, spending time with family, and his furry companions- Belle and Sheeba. A true patriot, he took pride in his country and those who served, no matter his circumstance, he insisted on donating and supporting the Paralyzed Veterans of America and the Wounded Warriors Project. He faithfully served as a member of the North Carolina Civil Air Patrol Wing #82, where he focused on emergency services and aircraft mechanics. Troy was a proud, kind, and warm man, he was deeply loved, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
