Vallie Joyce Frye

Mrs. Vallie Elizabeth Redman Joyce Frye, 89, passed away August 20, 2016 at Central Continuing Care in Mt. Airy. She was born in Surry Co. on March 8, 1927 the daughter of the late George W. Redman and Viola Simmons Redman. Vallie was a member of Sulfur Springs Baptist Church and was retired from Sara Lee Credit Union. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Odell Joyce and Loman Frye; four brothers, Herbert Redman, Dalmer Redman, Granville Redman and Russell Redman; two ½ sisters, Elma Welch and Thelma Sidden and a ½ brother, Otis Redman. Vallie is survived by her devoted daughter, Faye Dean Morris (Mo) of Pilot Mountain; two granddaughters, Melissa Riddle of Mt. Airy and Melinda Riddle of Pilot Mountain; two step-grandsons, Scott Morris (Kim) of Westfield and Kevin Morris (Lee) of Jamestown; a step-son, Garland Frye (Irene) of FL; six great-grandchildren, Evan, Ellie, J.C., Clark, Lily and Adyn; two sisters, Hallie Norman of Walnut Cove and Phyllis Nanney of Charlotte; one brother, Roger Redman (Carolyn) of Thomasville and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her faithful companion, Daisy Mae. Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church in Pilot Mountain with Rev. Mark Hall and Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 prior to the service at the church and at other times at the home of her daughter.
