Vallie Moorefield

Vallie Gertrude Rachel Moorefield: April 8, 1922 – March 31, 2019.  Two dates, and between them, a short dash.  But it was not so for Vallie “Nannie” Moorefield, lately of 5024 Mountain View Road in Winston-Salem, NC.  She was born to John and Maggie Rachel of Pinnacle NC and graduated from Pinnacle High School in 1939.

She married Clyde William Moorefield (1923-1997), and they had one son, Beechard E. Moorefield (Sharon), of Winston-Salem, NC.  She has two grandsons; Alex Sean Moorefield of Pfafftown, NC and Jason Andrew Moorefield (Missy) of Winston-Salem, NC, and two great-grandsons; Alex Sean Moorefield, Jr. and Andrew Allan Moorefield, both of Winston-Salem, NC.

She lived a full and active life, the vast majority of her years with a strong body and good health.  Always an encourager, it could be said of her, “she never met a stranger.”  And if a conversation ensued, you could be assured that Jesus would soon become a major focal point.  She loved to talk about Jesus, speak life and blessing to others, and encourage everyone and anyone who would give her the opportunity.

From hard working farm child coming through the Great Depression, to basketball player in high school, to wife, mother, grandmother, employee, faithful church member, and friend to far more people than even she could remember, she filled her life with the work of helping and blessing others.

On Sunday morning, March 31, after battling heart and breathing issues for a time, she went to sleep at about 9:25, and within five minutes, passed from this life into the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ.  While the skies over Winston-Salem, NC seemed to weep at losing a bright light from the earth, heaven was rejoicing at the homecoming of a prized saint.

The funeral service will be conducted at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall, NC 1:00 PM, Wednesday, April 3.  Family and friends will be welcomed for visitation and viewing from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM prior to the service.  Officiating the service will be her son, Beechard Moorefield, Bishop of New Life International Pentecostal Fellowship, Brian Gaither, Pastor of New Life International Pentecostal Fellowship, and Riley Puckett, Pastor (retired) of New Covenant Church of God of Archdale, NC.  These three ministers have served her as Pastor for more than 40 years.
