Mrs. Velnia Needham Holder, 90, passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice home in Winston-Salem. She was born in Surry Co. on October 3, 1925 the daughter of the late Milton Needham and Nonnie Hepler Needham. Mrs. Holder worked for Mt. Airy Furniture Co. for 20 years. She was an active member of Pinnacle United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the W.M.U. at the church. Mrs. Holder was an accomplished seamstress and loved to make quilts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James William ""J.W."" Holder, Sr. and two brothers, Bryce and Allen Needham. She is survived by a daughter; Angela Pearman and husband Roger, two sons; James W. Holder, Jr. and wife Diane, and Fred Wayne Holder, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mrs. Holder will be conducted 4:00 P.M, Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at Pinnacle United Methodist Church with Rev. Diane Marsden officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.
