Vermell Hauser Salmons

Vermell Hauser Salmons, born April 5, 1933, in Shoals, NC, to Ethel Scott Hauser and Olyn Reece Hauser, both deceased. Also preceded in death by brother, Denson Gray Hauser; wife, Mildred Bass Hauser; nephew Denson, Jr. (Denny); niece, Janice Wilson; brother, J. Coell Hauser.

On July 19, 1952, she was married to the Love of her Life, Nesbert Gray Salmons, and enjoyed 62 years of blissful marriage before his death in December, 2014.

After graduating from Hanes High School in 1951, she went to work at Western Electric as a secretary and worked until her children were born and then became a stay-at-home Mom and full-time wife and secretary to her husband who was self-employed in Real Estate.

She was an active member of Northwest Baptist Church for over 40 years, where she taught Sunday School and worked as church secretary. She later became an active member of Pfafftown Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She and her husband were active participants in the ARIC (Atheroscierosis Risk in Communities Study) for over 50 years before the death of husband.

She is survived by a daughter, Monica S. Kiger (Alan); son, Gary Wayne Salmons (Marsha); four precious grandsons, Kemper Kaliana (Christy), Garrett Kymiri (Andrea), Chase Salmons (Whitney); four great-grandchildren, Peter, Elsie Gray, Margo Noon, Nathaniel Whiting, and Christian Blake Salmons. In addition surviving are a very special extended family; Mandi, Will and Finleigh Watson, Melissa, Thomas, Addie, and Sophie MacInness, JoAnn Harkey, and several special nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted, at 11:00am, Tuesday, September 29th with Rev. Mary Beth Henderson officiating, followed by a picnic fellowship at Tobaccoville Park. It is open to all attendees.
