Vernon Lee Childress

Mr. Vernon Lee Childress, 67, of Clemmons, passed away Friday, November 1, 2013 at the Tucker Hospice Home in Kannapolis. Mr. Childress was born in Surry County on April 27, 1946 to Conrad Jesse and Esther Gregory Childress. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 33 years of service. Mr. Childress was preceded in death by his father and a nephew, Senega Childress. He is survived by his mother, Esther Childress; a daughter, Kim Rush and husband Jeff; two sons, Lee and Jeff Childress; four grandchildren, Emma, Wyatt, Luke, and Lily; three brothers, Ronnie Joe Childress and wife Susan, Tommy Childress, and Chris Childress; and a nephew, Robert Childress and family. A graveside service will be conducted 11:00 am Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Parklawn Memorial Park with Rev. Kelly Carpenter officiating.
