Victor Haynie Denton

Victor Haynie Denton, 84, of Winston-Salem, NC, went to be with his Lord and Savior on March 2, 2017. He was born in Marion, Indiana, the youngest of 6 children. After serving in the Coast Guard during the Korean War, he attended Indiana University where he met his much loved wife of 60 years, Waneta. They moved to NC to finish his Master Degree and start a family. Victor served as City Manager in Marion, NC (1968-1971), Mt. Airy, NC (1971-1979), and Roanoke Rapids, NC (1982-1995) while raising four children. In later years, he and Waneta settled in Winston-Salem to be near their children. He was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church with a love of missions. Victor is survived by his wife, Waneta; his children, Katrina Denton, Tim Denton, Gretchen Denton and Ruthanna Bridges; one much loved sister, Fern Jackson; and four grandchildren, Abigail Denton, William Denton, Jacob Denton and Robby Bridges. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 5, 2017 at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Gary Byrum officiating.
