Virginia Hinton Britt

Virginia Hinton Britt, age 91 of Winston-Salem, N.C. died on February 3rd, 2014. She was born on September 30th, 1922 to Ivan Derveer Hinton and Beulah Hinnant Hinton in Wayne County, N.C. She graduated from high school in Scotland Neck, N.C. and attended Mars Hill College. In 1942, she enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at Annostia Naval Air Station. She and her husband raised their family in Wendell, NC, where she had many dear friends. They later moved to Raleigh, NC, where Ginny worked as a Real Estate Broker. After the death of her husband in 1986, she moved to Winston-Salem to be near one of her sons. There she worked for several years in the women's department of Dillard's. She was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class and Knollwood Baptist Church and sincerely appreciated all of the friends she had in the congregation. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William A. Britt, Sr. and a sister, Ruth Hinton Parks of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. She is survived by her two sons, William A. Britt, Jr. and wife Marty of Winston-Salem and Thomas I. Britt and wife Karen of Longwood, FL. She was the proud grandmother of four grandsons, Andrew Britt of Woodstock, GA., William Britt, III of Winston-Salem, Kenneth Britt and his wife, Megan, of DeBary, FL., and Michael Britt of Charleston, SC. She also had two great-grandchildren, Cale Britt and Madilyn Britt of DeBary, FL. She is also survived by her sister, Marie Phillips and her husband Ralph Phillips, nephew, Ralph (Mann) Phillips and wife, Libby of Scotland Neck, N.C., her great niece Jamie Phillips and great nephew Austin Phillips and a special niece Marie Phillips of Lafayette, CO, and nephew, Pete Parks and wife, Vicki, of Petersburg, VA and great nephew Rob Parks and great niece Sheri Daisey. At her request, there will be no formal funeral service. The family will have a celebration of her life at a later date. Memorials may be made to Knollwood Baptist Church in Winston-Salem or to Hospice and Palliative Care in Winston-Salem. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
