Virginia Dare Willis Burge

Virginia Dare Willis Burge, 95, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. She was born in Caswell County to the late Nat Willis and Bertha Lunsford Willis on June 29, 1930. Virginia, in her younger days, attended Bartlett Yancey high school and was very active in sports, playing softball and basketball among other things. After graduating, she went on to serve for over 30 years as a utility operator at Western Electric and AT&T. In addition to this, Virginia had an affinity with the beautiful outdoors and cared for a host of plants and flowers in her lifetime. Virginia was incredibly family-oriented, and loved spending time with her loved ones. More than anything, she was deeply rooted in her faith and carried her love for Christ with her everywhere. She regularly attended church at Sedge Garden United Methodist Church and carried a cross with her just about everywhere. She will be missed immensely by those who knew and loved her.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Burge; as well as 8 siblings.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Tim Burge and Mark Burge and his wife, Yong; one grandchild, Michael and his wife, Amanda; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Hannah; as well as a host of other extended family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with Pastor Keith Edwards officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 AM- 10:45 AM. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
