Virginia Ann Greene Crater, 79, of Winston-Salem, NC passed away peacefully on Friday, March 9, 2018. She was born on December 8, 1938 to Thomas Paul Greene and Mary Ruth Penley Greene. Virginia was an active member of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Welcome, NC. She retired from US Airways. Her greatest loves were her family, friends, and cooking. She won several ribbons at the Dixie Classic Fair for her fried apple pies, including a first prize blue ribbon in 2016. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Spencer Greene. She leaves behind her loving children Debbie Edwards (Tiny), Chris Crater, Lori Crater, Mark Crater (Kerri), two grandsons, Joshua Crater and Ayden Crater, and two special "adopted" daughters, Becky Hiatt and Tonya Hiatt all of the Winston-Salem area. Virginia is also survived by a sister, Betty Doyle (Gene) of Apex, NC, two brothers, Grant Greene, and Robert Greene (Liz) both of the Winston-Salem area, a sister-in-law Phyllis Greene, and a number of nieces, nephews, and many friends. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Welcome, NC on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Andrea Bates officiating. Family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Virginia's memory to the Columbarium Fund at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 1119, Welcome, NC 27374.
