Virginia Hudson Gant

On December 18, 2023, Virginia Lee Hudson Gant passed in the night. She was the loving wife of David Wesley Gant and the mother of Martin Preston Gant and Wesley Lee Gant. She was the 6^th of 10 children born to Preston Odway Hudson and Nellie Beasley. She was born in April 24, 1944 with older siblings Milton, Ervin, Lillie, Geraldine, Joanne, and her younger siblings being Herbert, Wilma, David, and Cathy. She also had three step daughters, Carolyn Gunter, Lynette Corbett, and Kathy Held. She leaves behind a daughter in law Catherine Marie Thomas Gant and three grandchildren; Preston Layne, Parker Lynne, and Peyton Lee.

She was born in Lewisville and attended school in Lewisville, Clemmons, and Vienna; graduated Southwest High School in 1963 and returned to school to earn an Associates degree from Guilford Tech.

Her first job was with Hanes Hosiery in Winston-Salem after graduation and then moved on to office work at Western Electric, AT&T, Lucent, and ultimately retired from General Dynamics after many years of faithful service.

David And Virginia were married July 29, 1978 at Center Grove Baptist Church and moved to their farm, Gant’s Folly, in Belews Creek in 1979. She will be remembered as a woman that loved her family, her Church, and her community. She loved to travel and had a generous heart.

A funeral service for Virginia will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Antioch Church at 6080 Belews Creek Rd, Walkertown, NC 27051 with Pastor Robert Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Antioch Church at PO Box 10, Belews Creek, NC 27009.
