Virginia "Jenny" Burge Blakley

Virginia “Jenny” Burge Blakley, 93, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Mallard Ridge Assisted Living. Jenny was born on November 13, 1932 in Guilford County to Charles Burge and Alma Pell Sink. Jenny was a lady of strong faith and was a devoted follower of Christ. She was a longtime member of Oaklawn Baptist Church, serving in many capacities. Jenny was a caregiver at heart, leading her to a career as a corporate Registered Nurse with AT & T Technologies. She grew up with four brothers, who made her independent and tough enough to handle all of life’s situations. Jenny loved them all dearly. After her retirement, she continued to share her caregiver’s heart as a volunteer with Hospice. Jenny also loved to crochet and was very good at tatting, sharing many of her handmade crafts with her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Ray Blakley; two sons, James Michael Blakley and Casey “Preston” Lee Austin; and a nephew, Scott Sink.

Surviving are four brothers, Carl Sink, Frank Sink (Cindy), Jimmy Sink, and David Sink (Kathy); and many loving nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, May 21, 2026 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
