Virginia Johnson Lord

Virginia Johnson Lord, 81, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at The Oaks at Forsyth, Winston-Salem, NC. She was born August 31, 1926 in St. Johns County, Florida to the late Marion Lorenzo and Ruth Usina Johnson. Virginia was a volunteer at Forsyth Medical Center for over 20 years. Preceding her in death were her parents and her husband, Carl Lamar Lord, Sr. Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl Harris and husband Harlow of Florida and Lois Darleen Smith and husband Russell of Winston-Salem; one son, Carl Lord, Jr. of Denver, NC; six grandchildren, Tommy Glisson, Scott Smith, Patti James, Jason Smith, Michael Lord, and Lamar Lord; three great-grandchildren, Scott and Michael James and Joseph Smith; brother, Gene Johnson and wife Bessie; sister; Marion Booth and husband Donald all of St. Augustine, Florida; also surviving are two step-granddaughters, Sheila Chandler of San Antonio, Texas and Kelly Cates of Winston-Salem, NC and two step-great grandchildren, Jessica Cates and Joshua Chandler. Internment will be at the Craig Memorial Park in St. Augustine, Florida with a Memorial Service to be scheduled at a later date.
