Virginia “Ginger” Creed McKnight, 83, went home to meet her Heavenly Father on December 24, 2025, just one day after celebrating her birthday. While our hearts grieve her passing, we rejoice in knowing she is healed, whole, and celebrating eternal life in Heaven.
Ginger was born on December 23, 1942, in Surry County to the late George and Pearlie Lowe Creed. She graduated from North Surry High School and spent many years working as an accountant in the billing office at Medical Park Hospital, where she later retired.
A woman of quiet strength and deep faith, Ginger lived her life with a servant’s heart. She loved her family fiercely and found joy in caring for others, offering kindness, wisdom, and a listening ear whenever it was needed. Her faith in Jesus guided her life, and that faith gives her family comfort and peace today.
Ginger was one of eleven siblings and was preceded in death by her sisters and brothers: Geneva Southern, Raymond Creed, Roxie Warner, Robert Creed, Maurice Brandingburg, Annette Eller, Tommy Creed, Benny Creed, and Alford Creed.
She leaves behind four children whom she loved deeply: Taffy Lyle (Randy), Lance Tannehill, Jennifer Posey (Tom), and Mitch McKnight (Erica). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Sydney Lyle, Ian Tannehill, MacKenzie Forrest, Ryan Forrest, Miller McKnight, and Kingstin McKnight, each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Ginger was also survived by her brother, Buddy Wayne Creed (Catherine.)
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, January 2, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Pinedale Christian Church, with Danny Spainhour officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in honor of Ginger to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America.
Though she will be deeply missed here on earth, we take comfort in the promise of Scripture and the assurance that Ginger is now at peace, rejoicing in the presence of her Savior.
Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is serving the family.
