Virginia Ann Simmons

Winston-Salem - Virginia (Ginny) Ann Simmons (nee Kinsler) a long-time resident of Winston-Salem, died suddenly October 26, 2016 at Forsyth Hospital with her family by her side.

Born in Covington, Kentucky on August 29, 1951, she spent her childhood and early adult life in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the Volunteer Coordinator at the Children's Hospital and eventually became a full-time stay-at-home Mom, which was her real calling. Her children were the center of her world and she was an amazing mother.

From 1984 through 1993, Ginny lived in Indianapolis IN, Littleton CO, Louisville KY and Nashville TN, before putting down roots in Winston-Salem. She and her family also made countless memories at their beach house in Ocean Isle, NC. Ginny often volunteered at her children's schools, Saint Leo's and Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School; touching a lot of lives and making many friends. In fact, she made friends wherever she went, never afraid to talk to strangers or make funny faces at babies. She lit-up every room she walked into with her contagious smile.

Her light shines-on through her survivors: Her children, Sarah Simmons Turner, Joseph Simmons, Elizabeth Simmons and son-in-law Daniel Abushakra. Her granddaughter, Grace Abushakra. Her siblings, Michael Kinsler, Tami Kinsler, Carol Kinsler, Patricia Copeland, Jeanie Webb and Eddie Webb. Her sisters-in-law, Linda Kinsler and Linda Woods. Her mother-in-law, Lenore Simmons and father-in-law, Donald Simmons. Her ex-husband, Randall Simmons. Her long-term boyfriend, Ken Scott. Her dear Pekingese, Otis. As well as, dozens of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will always be loved and never be forgotten.

A funeral service will be held at Saint Leo's Catholic Church at 11AM on Monday October 31st. As Ginny was a huge animal lover, in lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations towards The Forsyth Humane Society in Winston-Salem.
