Wade Conrad Motsinger

With grateful hearts for a life well lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Wade Conrad Motsinger, who entered the presence of his Lord and Savior on June 27, 2026, at the age of 97. Wade was born on April 9, 1929, in Davidson County, N.C.

Wade lived a life defined by unwavering faith, love for his family, and a strong work ethic. He attended Wake Forest University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in 1951. He served his country during the Korean War, a chapter of his life that reflected the courage, honor, and selflessness that would characterize him for the rest of his life.

Following his military service, he built a long career with RJ Reynolds, where he was respected for his dedication and integrity. More important than any occupation, was his lifelong commitment to serving the Lord. As a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, NC, he found great joy in worship, fellowship, and service alongside his church family. His relationship with Jesus Christ was the foundation of his life and the legacy he leaves behind.

He cherished the simple blessings God provided, whether that be tending his garden, enjoying a day on the golf course, casting a fishing line into the water, or simply breathing in fresh air while listening to birds sing. Above all else, he treasured his family. Wade dedicated himself to the love of his life, Virginia Sue Flynt Motsinger, whom he was married to for 71 years. Some of his happiest moments were spent creating memories with his children filled with laughter, love and encouragement. As his family grew to include grandchildren and great-grandchildren, his love only multiplied, and each one held a special place in his heart.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Paige Rankin (Mike) of Greensboro, NC; Dawn Walker (Charles, Jr.) of Jacksonville, FL; and Wren Wallace of Willow Spring, NC, who will forever cherish his memory. He was a proud and loving grandfather to Rebekah Hengy (Joe), Katherine Rankin, Meredith Huggins (Brent), Madeline Warwick (James), Laura Jorris (Austin), Rachel Wallace, and Allison Wallace. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren Ashlyn, Walker, Alaina, Trent, Owen, Ruth, William, and baby Warwick. Additionally surviving members of the family are his sister, Catherine King of New Jersey, as well as adopted family member, Hattie Allen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad Franklin Motsinger and Nora Leonard Motsinger; his brothers, Robert, Charles and Herman Motsinger.

While his family mourns his passing, they rejoice in the promise that he has been welcomed into his eternal home. His life reflects the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”

A celebration of Wade’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Bethany Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the church.
