WALKERTOWN - Wallace Leon Larrimore, 84, went home to be with his Lord Sunday, November 12, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Hospital. Wallace was born August 19, 1933 in Forsyth County to Wilbur "Webb" and Ruth Sapp Larrimore. He was a Veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church for 57 years. He received a Mechanical Engineering Degree from NC State University. Wallace retired from Bahnson Inc with 35 years of service. He also served the Town of Walkertown for two terms as a Town Councilman. Wallace was instrumental in bringing in the first Sheetz Gas Station to NC. He was an avid fan of Tar Heel basketball, and loved fishing at his home in Harkers Island and taking his family out on the boat to Cape Lookout Lighthouse. Above all, he was a devoted husband, dad, and papaw.
In addition to his parents, Wallace was preceded in death by his daughter, Tracy Dawn Larrimore; and one sister Wilda Clemmons.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Joyce Larrimore; three sons, Jeff Larrimore (Kelly), Todd Joyce (Kim), and Neil Joyce (Donna); three daughters, Kim Larrimore, Beth Campbell (Mark), and Angela Church; grandchildren, Bryan Larrimore, Mary Catherine Parker (Markus), Christopher Overton, Benjamin Overton, Brooke Gibson (Andrew) Travis Cantrell (Claire), Brittany King (Nick), Morgan Joyce, Zac Joyce, Josh Church (Heather), Mary Koons, and Jake Koons; great grandchildren, Peyton Larrimore and Austin Cantrell.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Gospel Light Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Shumate and Dr. Timothy Sapp officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 -10:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
