Mr. Wayne Gray Foster, 81, of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

He was born on on December 14, 1944, to the late James Gray Foster and Edith Howard Foster in Forsyth County, NC.

Wayne was a design engineer manager with Sarah Lee Knit Products before his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Gray Foster and Edith Ledford Foster; and his wife, Gale Jenkins Foster. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Karyn Foster Knight and husband Mel of Raleigh, NC; two grandsons, Dalton Knight and Foster Knight and wife Ashley Knight; one sister, Dianna Swaim and husband Jr Swaim; niece, Jennifer Swaim; and Kathy Thompson, a dear and special friend.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Calvary Baptist Church in the Angel Room with Pastor Truett Williams officiating.

The family wishes to thank the talented doctors and nurses at Wake Forest Baptist and a tremendous thank-you to Dr. Rupali Roy Bhave for all your care and kindness. A special thanks to Dr. Scott Harper who always took the extra time to talk to Wayne and give him the best care. A special thank you to all his model airplane friends and music buddies, you meant the world to him.
