Mr. Wendell “Winky” Holten Spainhour Jr., 78, passed away Thursday January 26, 2023, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born in Forsyth County to the late Wendell Spainhour, Sr., and Charlotte Scott Spainhour on October 2, 1944. Mr. Spainhour served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After the war he came home and had various jobs, then he went to work for RJ Reynolds and retired with them with over 25 years of service. “Winky” was a football and basketball fan and loved watching his teams on television. He was a kind outgoing people person who never met a stranger. He also liked to go out to eat and ride his scooter. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Aludia Spainhour; step mother, Faye Spainhour; sister, Lisa Lauck. He is survived by two sisters, Diane Beeson and Sue Spainhour; brother, Timmy Rannon (Ramona); nieces and nephews, Brian Beeson (Susan), Elizabeth Turney (Derrick) and Jay Lauck (Tori); great nephews, Jacob and Kane; great niece Kaia. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Gardens of Memory Walkertown with Chaplin Ben Fleming officiating. Online condolences may be sent to www.hayworth-miller.com.
