Wesley Rufus Armstrong, 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully after a short illness on January 6th, 2026, at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. Wesley was a lifelong resident of Forsyth County and the son of the late William and Virginia Armstrong.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Maxine Armstrong and his brothers, Jimmy Smith and John Armstrong.
He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Brenda Armstrong, his devoted son Ricky Armstrong, stepchildren Angie Howard, David Bottoms and Glenn Bottoms and sisters Sylvia Armstrong, Carolyn Burns and Gracy Alexander. He was also step-grandfather to 10 grandchildren, including Meghan Wilson (Hospice Nurse) and Kerri Hodges (Respiratory Therapist), that helped care for him along with the kind hospital staff until the time of his passing. He was step-great-grandfather to 11 great-grandchildren. All the grandchildren and great-grandchildren adored their “Rufus” or “Papa”.
Wesley was a beloved member of Pleasant Hill Church of Pfafftown, NC. He had operated a successful home improvement business until his retirement. His passion was assisting people in his church and community, and he deeply loved all of his dogs.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm Saturday, January 10th at Pleasant Hill Church, located at 4691 Vienna Dozier Rd. Pfafftown NC, 27040. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the church.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, well wishers make a donation to the Pleasant Hill Church of Pfafftown, NC.
