Mr. Wilburn Eugene Long passed away Friday afternoon October 12, 2018 at Gordon Hospice House in Statesville, NC. He was born in Forsyth County on December 25, 1931 to the late Frank Long and Ida Sink Long. Wilburn had over 60 years of experience in the grading business, as owner of Wilburn Long Grading company. He loved horses, cows, and started a cowboy church. Wilburn enjoyed rodeos, bull riding, and had many cook outs for the community. He also headed up a Griffith High School reunion, that included all classes. Wilburn was preceded in death by his wife Edith Long; and three sisters. He is survived by two daughters Jill Payne (Johnny) and Mitzi Bennett (Mike); grandson Brody Jones (Ashley); two great grandchildren Aiden, and Charlotte; and a special dog Peanut. On October 18, 2018, visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, at Konnoak Hills Moravian Church, located at 3401 Konnoak Dr, in Winston-Salem. A graveside service follows at 4:00 PM at Hebron United Church of Christ on 129 Hebron Church Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27107. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625. Online condolences can be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
