William Belton

Mr. William Glen Belton, 86, passed away September 1, 2017 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 6, 1930 in Galax, Virginia to the late Hurley Belton and Bertha McKinney Belton. William retired with 40 years' service at Hanes Hosiery. In addition, he served his community on the Board of Directors of Mineral Springs Little League, and Mineral Springs Fire Department. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and will be dearly missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ruth Snow Belton; four brothers, Ray Belton, Clarence Belton, Junior Belton, and Reece Belton. He is survived by his son, Mark (Katrina) Belton; one daughter, Stephanie "Peppi" (Cheryle) McCraw; four grandchildren, Zachary Belton, Avery Belton, Heather Webb (Vince Parker), Tiffany Bowman (Casey); five great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Jones, Faith Jones, Ezekiel Webb, Rachel Parker, and Josie Parker; one sister, Sue McCreary. A funeral service will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 4, 2017 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel Rural Hall with Jerry Simpkins, Minister officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Jefferson Christian Church, 8200 Jefferson Church Road, Rural Hall, N.C. 27045. Online condolences may be made at www.hayworth-miller.com.
