William "Bill" Ellis Sr.

Bill or ”Billy Lynn; Dean and Ralph’s little boy ”, 73, of Maryville, Tennessee, passed away on October 9, 2025. Born on February 1, 1952, to Geraldine Isbell and Ralph Edward Ellis, Bill lived a life full of laughter, service, and love.

He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Air Force for 23 years, where he retired after a dedicated career as a Loadmaster. His passion for service continued as a civilian Loadmaster, and he remained proud of the work he did and the people he served alongside. Those who worked with Bill will remember him as a true character — someone who could light up any room and make everyone around him laugh.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jennifer and nephew Travis Hansen.

He is survived by his devoted Wife, Mary Hansen Ellis his son, William Lynn Ellis Jr., his daughter-in-law, Ashley Ellis, and his three grandchildren, Opal Ellis, Olive Ellis, and William Lynn Ellis lll “Tripp” — his bonus grandchildren Magnolia and Michael Jr (Bubba) all who were the light of his life and the source of his greatest joy.

He was an avid fisherman and loved crafting his own tackle, often sharing his passion and creations with others. Bill had a special gift for storytelling and humor, and his quick wit and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him.

Bill found his greatest happiness in family — watching his son grow into a father and cherishing every moment with his grandchildren. His laughter, warmth, and the lessons he shared will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Altus, OK. More details to come.
