William "Billy" Eugene Hamlin, Jr.

Mr. William Eugene “Billy” Hamlin, Jr., 41, of Rural Hall, passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. Mr. Hamlin was born April 12, 1985 in Forsyth County. He had been a truck driver for James River Equipment for 16 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing video games, watching YouTube, working on cars, drawing and woodworking. Billy was a very compassionate person, with a heart bigger than he was, and served as the “life of the party”. He is survived by his wife, Maria Shaffer Hamlin, of the home; his mother, Lisa Owens (Lenny); his father, William Hamlin; his brother, Ricky Hamlin (Katelyn); his sisters, Mitzi Riddle and Allie Levins; aunts Tammy Simmons (Brian), Tabathia Benson (Bobby) and Jane Richardson; uncles John Waugh (Angie) and George Hamlin; several cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Hayworth-Miller Rural Hall Chapel. Pastor Gary Styers will officiate. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
