Mr. William Paul Cox, “Bill” or “Billy” to his friends and family, 60, of Greensboro, died unexpectedly Wednesday, October 21, 2026 at his home. Bill’s childhood was spent in Winston-Salem, and he was raised in the Baptist faith. His parents, Jimmy and Gail Cox, provided a loving and nurturing home for Bill and his brother, Steve. After completing high school, Bill attended East Carolina University, where he was awarded a BFA in Environmental Design. Following graduation from ECU, he began a rewarding 32-year career in furniture design/sales with Furnitureland South, serving clients both nationally and abroad. He was a member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and, locally, had served as a Board Member for The Center for Visual Artists of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rhoten and Mabel Easter Cox and Bill and Mildred Hiatt Bondurant, all of Surry County, as well as his brother, Steve Cox, and his father, Jimmy Ray Cox. Surviving is his beloved mother, Gail Bondurant Cox, of Rural Hall and a special aunt, Neina Bondurant Withers, of Pilot Mountain. Also surviving is a large family of cousins and other relatives who loved him dearly and will miss him beyond measure, a community of friends who adored him and thought he hung the stars, and professional associates from across the globe who valued his friendship, his expertise and his commitment. At the family’s request, services and burial will be private. In recognition of the compassionate and loving care provided to Bill’s father, Jimmy, during his illness, the family suggests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials in Bill’s memory be considered for Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
