William Randall Crist

Mr. William Randall Crist, 87, of Kernersville died Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born October 1, 1926 in Forsyth County, the son of the late, Herbert H. and Margaret Smith Crist. Mr. Crist was a member of Linville Forest Church of Christ. At the age of 16, he enlisted in the US Navy and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II He retired from Western Electric following 41 years of service. He was a proud descendant of the founders of Old Salem and a fourth generation member of Home Moravian Church. The four most important things in his life were his family, his Christian faith, his Moravian heritage and his service to our country. He was honored to be a part of the Flight of Honor and his visit to the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth Myers Crist of the home; one son, Garry Crist ( LaDonna) of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Sharon Duvall ( Ron) of Kernersville; five grandchildren, Catherine Donanthan(Billy), Lindsay Allmon (Kevin), Christine Duvall (Kris Kleinhenz), Patrick Crist (Laura) and Rebecca Crist; six great grandchildren, Marissa, Kamryn, Madison, Jordyn, Skylar and Tripp; one sister, Caroline Counsil of Greensboro; numerous nieces and nephews and his special buddy, Snowball. There will be a Celebration of Life conducted by Mr. Kelly Brown on Saturday at 12:00 noon at Linville Forest Church of Christ. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem.
