William Dixon

Mr. William Jackson Dixon, 82, gained his wings in Heaven on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family, after a wonderful life of love and marriage. He was born in Franklin Co., VA on August 25, 1936 the son of the late Kermit and Elsie Dixon.  He worked 18 years at Hanes Hosiery and then worked for and retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. as a mechanic. He loved his family, playing golf and traveling our beautiful country with his wife. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lourine Pinnix, Louise Dixon and Linda Marion. Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife of 59 years, Wanda Mecum Dixon; three children, Karen Gregory, Chris Dixon (Tammie) and Susan Hinson (Tina); five grandchildren, Bria Nance, William Dixon (Heather), Richard Dixon, John Shipton and Nicholas Gregory; and a sister, Donnie Osier. A service celebrating Mr. Dixon’s life will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Sunday, December 16, 2018 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
