William Crawford Ervin, Jr.

Mr. William ""Bill"" Crawford Ervin, Jr. of Clemmons passed away Tuesday, December 9, 2014. He was born September 21, 1946 in Mooresville, NC to William Crawford and Martha Jester Ervin. Mr. Ervin was a graduate of Guilford College, an active member of Union Hill Baptist Church and was retired with 32 years of service from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as a tax manager. He also retired from the U. S. Army Reserve as a Command Sergeant Major, taught accounting and tax preparation for many years at Forsyth Tech and volunteered at the Clemmons Library preparing taxes. Bill was an avid golfer, had coached Little League Baseball and had refereed and coached for Clemmons Basketball. He was preceded in death by his parents, two children, Heather and Chris Ervin and a sister, Barbara Pender. Surviving is his wife, Rita Hart Ervin, his high school sweetheart whom he married August 13, 1966; a sister, Becky Carter; a special nephew, Richard Carter and wife Magan; a special niece, Pam Bean and husband Ronnie; several additional nieces and nephews and very special friends, Johnny and Jean Dwiggins. A graveside service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 12, 2014 at Union Hill Baptist Church in Clemmons with Rev. Christopher Burcham officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 8494 Lasater Rd., Clemmons, NC 27012. Online condolences may be made to www.hayworth-miller.com.
