Mr. William “Bill” Forrest, 88, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 22, 1935, in Stokes County to the late John Forrest and Lucy Culler Forrest. Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Stanleyville for more than 60 years. In his spare time, Bill enjoyed traveling to the beach and the mountains. He was known as a family man and a workaholic. Bill retired from RJ Reynolds as a master carpenter after 32 years of service. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son Chris Forrest; three sisters, Lona Reynolds, Barbara Goad, and Mary Hicks; three brothers, Mac Forrest, Aldy Forrest, and Lee Forrest; and seven half siblings, Will Forrest, Joe Forrest, Richard Forrest, Ethel Forrest, Ruby Forrest, Nina Forrest, and Frank Forrest. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Margie Harp Forrest; three children, Cherri Forrest, Sherry Brimmer (John), and Elaine O’Shields (Bryan); daughter in law, Judy Forrest; four grandchildren, Alex “Little Red” O’Shields, Ed “Big Ed” O’Shields (Hannah), Megan Smith, and Trent Isaacs; one great-grandchild, Nichole Craddock; one great-grandchild on the way, Bryson O’Shields; and one brother, Junior Forrest. A funeral service will be conducted 1:00 PM Monday, January 8, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Stanleyville with Rev. Dr. Virgil Dwyer and Pastor Eddie Honeycutt officiating. The family will receive friends following the services at the church. A private family entombment will be held prior to the service. Mr. Forrest’s body will lie-in-state from 1:00PM until 5:00PM Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Stanleyville.
