William Anthony Gallagher

Mr. William Anthony Gallagher, 75, passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017 at Forsyth Memorial Hospital. He was born May 20, 1942 in Syracuse, NY, the son of William and Rose Smith Gallagher. He was an avid follower of the news, an excellent cook and loved theatre, taking small parts in order to be close to Maggie, the love of his life, to whom he was married for 31 years. He was also the technical director at the Barn Dinner Theater in Greensboro for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and is preceded in death by his parents; a son William Brian Gallagher and a sister, Kate Boch. Survivors include his wife Margaret; a son Michael Scott Garand; two brothers, Michael Gallagher (Carole) and Brian Gallagher (Robin) and a sister, Tish Petta. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at Knollwood Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert B. Setzer Jr. officiating. The burial will be private. The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 20, 2017 from 6 to 8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family invites everyone to attend a reception after the service from 1:30pm-2:30pm. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Hospice of Winston-Salem, 101 Hospice Ln., Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Knollwood Baptist Church, 330 Knollwood St., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
