William Blain "Bill" Gray, 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.
Bill was born on October 23, 1945, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Blain Banister Gray and Mamie Patrick Gray. He began his career as a police officer in Winston-Salem before earning a degree from Georgia State University. Following graduation, Bill served as a special agent with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), working in both the Atlanta and Miami field offices.
After his time with the DEA, Bill returned home to Winston-Salem, where he embarked on a long and successful career in real estate. He worked as a broker, developer, builder, auctioneer, and property manager. Known for his sharp wit and sound advice, Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patricia Darnell “Pat” Gray; and his siblings, Roy Gray, Troy Gray, Kathleen Larson, Violet Kimel, and Juanita “Judy” Dull.
Bill is survived by his wife, Patty B. Gray; his sons from his first marriage, Charlie Gray and Michael Gray (Stacy); and stepchildren, Taylor Lowder and William Lowder. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brandon, Austin, Jacob, and Haley Gray.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel, located at 6685 Shallowford Road, Lewisville, NC 27023.
